TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THERAPY AGREEMENT
Last updated: January 06, 2024
Please read these terms and conditions carefully before using My Service.
Initial Consultation/ Assessment
The purpose of the initial consultation is to develop an understanding of your problems so that I can make recommendations to you about what types of intervention may help you. This may take longer than one session. I will try to accommodate your wishes and needs. On rare occasions, I may decide that I cannot offer you a service. If this is the case, I will explain you why and advise you on alternatives.
Session details
Therapy is an active and collaborative process, inviting you to be the observer of your own life and to take part in what needs changing. We will regularly discuss how therapy is working for you. It is important to attend as agreed. I will discuss your attendance with you if I feel it is becoming detrimental to our work together. Sessions last 50 minutes and take place on a weekly basis at the same time and on the same day. I will give you as much notice as possible of any breaks in therapy (e.g., during holidays). Please note that, if you arrive late, you will still need to pay for the whole session and we will also have to finish on time.
Fees
The fees are £100/ €110 per session. Please keep in mind that you are responsible for paying the fee for the session and any cancellation fees. If you are using private healthcare insurance to pay for the sessions, please ensure you know what your policy covers as you would be liable to pay for any shortfall.
Cancellation policy
Appointment cancelled with less than 48 hours in advance or no show: 100% of fee.
Appointment cancelled with more than 48 hours in advance: no fee.
It is not possible to postpone or re-arrange an appointment cancelled with less than 48 hours in advance. Please note that you will need to pay for any cancellation charges even if you are using health insurance to pay for your treatment.
Confidentiality
Therapy often involves the disclosure of sensitive and personal information, so confidentiality is paramount. In order to protect your right to privacy, the things you disclose in session with me will remain confidential between us, although I may disclose our work with my supervisor, but will not reveal your name. If applicable, I may from time to time write to your referrer with a summary of your treatment and progress, in which case I will discuss with you the content of such letters before sending them. In extreme circumstances where I believe there is a significant risk to you (e.g., suicide) or others (e.g., child protection), I may have to contact other professionals (e.g., your GP) without your consent, but I will always try to inform you first, if I need to do this.
Your records
I keep paper records of our work together. They are kept locked and secure.
Ending therapy
We will agree how long we will work together. Since therapy is always a choice, you are free to leave therapy at any time, but I would ask you that you let me know. Therapy requires a trusting relationship and there are some ground rules that need to be respected, including keeping to the agreement set out here. If the agreement is not kept to, then I may need to consider ending therapy with you. If your circumstances change and this has an impact on your regular therapy attendance (e.g., need to change time of sessions), I will try to accommodate the change, but if unable to do so, then I cannot be held responsible for any resulting early ending of the therapy.
